Life Comes At You Fast...a Note from Pastor Matt

Hi all, this is Pastor Matt. What a journey it has been since my family and I arrived here in Geneva. We have witnessed God moving in our community as He has allowed us to love this town with HIS love in unique ways. I personally have seen God in action here and have watched lives and families changed and I stand in awe. As God has used my family to touch your hearts, know that He has also used you to touch ours. So, speaking of hearts I need to share something with you. Most of you in the church know that I have a BIG HEART. However, my physical heart has been failing and I have been in heart failure since June 25th. It became apparent to the doctors at the Cleveland Clinic that my aortic valve is weak, narrowed and that it must now be removed and replaced. What this means is that Elders have placed me on medical leave as I will be going in for open heart surgery for them to replace my valve.

This in no way means what we do at the church of second chances is also on “medical leave”. We have an amazing group of leaders that you can trust and this body has a hearts passion for our community and will continue to reach out and serve our community even through my time off for surgery and recovery. Please do not hesitate to contact the church with any needs or questions you may have. Here at GCC, the Church of Second Chances….you matter.

See you all when my medical leave is up…I will be back to dancing, as will my family.

I want to challenge you with one thought as I think of this amazing journey we are all on. You all know the commercial for allstate: "Life comes at you fast....are you in good hands?" Jeremiah 29:11

Love,
Pastor Matt Thompson
